Чернянка

Чернянка — поселок городского типа (с 1958 г.), центр Чернянского района. Расположен на р. Оскол. Же­лезнодорожная станция на линии Москва—Донецк. Пер­вое упоминание о Чернянке в исторических документах относится к 1674—1675 гг.
11 августа 1918 г. была создана Чернянская волост­ная организация РКП, которая возглавила борьбу за ук­репление Советской власти в селах волости.
На 1 января 1988 г. в поселке — 12,8 тыс. жителей. В Чернянке — сахарный и маслобойный заводы, мясо-птицекомбинат и райпромкомбинат, пищекомбинат, за­вод сухого молока, элеватор, кирпичный завод. В по­селке — Дворец культуры, 8 библиотек с общим фон­дом 128 тыс. книг, среднее профтехучилище (готовит специалистов для народного хозяйства), две средних и одна восьмилетняя школы, 10 магазинов. В Чернянской районной типографии печатается газета «Путь Ильича»— орган Чернянского райкома КПСС и районного Совета народных депутатов. Объем — 1 печ. л., тираж (в 1988 г.) 8 тыс. экз. Первый номер газеты вышел в ноябре 1931 г., тогда она называлась «Власть Советов». В 1932— 1941 гг. выходила под названием «Голос колхозника». Издание газеты возобновилось сразу после освобожде­ния Чернянки в феврале 1943 г. Новое название — «Путь Ильича» — газета получила в 1960-е гг.
