Строитель

Строитель — поселок городского типа (с 1960 г.), центр Яковлевского района (район назван по имени старинного села Яковлеве, вблизи которого в 1950-е гг. вырос поселок строителей Яковлевского подзем­ного рудника по добыче железных руд КМА. Расположен вблизи автомагистрали Москва—Симферо­поль в 26 км к северу от Белгорода ив 15 км от бли­жайшей железнодорожной станции Сажное (на линии Курск—Белгород). 12,7 тыс. жителей (в 1988 г.).
В поселке развито производство стройматериалов (крупный завод железобетонных изделий, сельский стро­ительный комбинат, завод монтажных заготовок, строительно-монтажное управление треста Союзшахтоосушенне). Среди других предприятий — эксперимен­тальный ремонтно-механический завод, трест Яковлево-межрайгаз, транспортное предприятие Транссельхозтех­ника, типография. В Строителе — две средние школы, среднее профессионально-техническое училище по под­готовке строителей и автомобилистов; две библиотеки с фондом, превышающим 77 тыс. книг (действующая в Яковлевском районе централизованная библиотечная система имеет 30 филиалов с фондом почти в 300 тыс. книг), кинотеатр на 600 мест.
С 1965 г. выходит газета «Победа» — орган Яков­левского райкома КПСС и районного Совета народных депутатов. Объем — 1 печ. л., тираж (в 1988 г.) 8,3 тыс. экз. Первый номер газеты «Победа» вышел 10 апреля 1965 г. Печатается в районной типографии в поселке Строитель.
