Любименко Владимир Николаевич

Любименко Владимир Николаевич — физиолог ра­стений, член-корреспондент Академии наук СССР, дей­ствительный член Академии наук УССР. Родился в с. Вейделевка 4(16) января 1873 г. в семье конторщика. В 1881 — 1884 гг. учился в Новооскольском уездном училище. После его окончания поступил в сель­скохозяйственное училище в Дергачах под Харьковом, затем два года служил агрономом в одном из имений на Полтавщине. В 1898 г. успешно окончил Петербург­ский лесной институт и в 1902 г. — Петербургский уни­верситет. Несколько лет стажировался в Боннском и Па­рижском университетах. В марте 1917 г. защитил в Пет­роградском университете докторскую диссертацию.
В. Н. Любименко принадлежат серьезные заслуги в изучении фотосинтеза. Он посвятил этой теме более тридцати работ, которые оказали влияние на агрономи­ческую и лесоводческую практику. Под редакцией В. Н. Любименко в 1920—1932 гг. были опубликованы 12 выпусков научного труда «Растительное сырье СССР», посвященного пищевым, кормовым, техническим и лекарственным растениям. В. Н. Любименко был профессо­ром ряда ленинградских вузов, организатором физиоло­гических лабораторий в Никитском ботаническом са­ду, в Ленинграде, Харькове и Киеве.
Умер 14 января 1937 г. в Ленинграде.
