Ивня

Ивня — рабочий поселок (с 1971 г.), центр Ивнянского района, расположен к северо-западу от Белгорода, в 12 км от автомагистрали Москва—Симферополь. 6,3 тыс. жителей (1988 г.).
В книге «Россия. Полное географическое описание нашего Отечества» (т. 2, С.-Петербург, 1902 г.) сообща­ется: «В 14 верстах от Обояни находится большое село Ивня (Троицкое), имеющее до 1800 жителей, значитель­ный конский завод гр. Клейнмихеля и 2 ярмарки. В пору освобождения крестьян с. Ивня принадлежало Алекс. Ник. Карамзину, сыну знаменитого историка, владев­шему здесь 8000 десятин земли и умершему в 1888 г. Владелец Ивни, бывший гвардейским офицером, писал иногда стихи. Как, напр., повесть «Борис Ульин» в сти­хах. Ныне близ Ивни при Ивнянских выселках находится Ивнянское имение гр. Конст. Петр. Клейнмихеля, заме­чательное по своему месторождению железных руд (бу­рых железняков)... Все имение заключает в себе более 6 тысяч десятин и значительно также по своему поле­водству, скотоводству, плодоводству, лесоводству, свекло­сахарному заводу, обрабатывающему до 150 тысяч бер­ковцев (берковец — 12 пудов. — Б. О.) свекловицы, 5 мукомольным мельницам, из которых одна паровая, и школам с ремесленными отделениями».
В ноябре 1917 г. в Ивне были оглашены первые ле­нинские декреты и объявлено об установлении в селе Советской власти. 2 мая 1918 г. декретом Совнаркома национализирован Ивнянский сахарный завод. 9 нояб­ря 1918 г. Президиум Главного сахарного комитета при­нял постановление о присвоении Ивнянскому заводу имени В. И. Ленина по просьбе трудящихся предприятия.
Сегодня Ивнянский сахарный завод им. В. И. Лени­на — одно из ведущих предприятий отрасли в области,  В Ивне — маслозавод, два автотранспортных предприя­тия и передвижная механизированная колонна, Дворец культуры, три библиотеки, две средние школы, спортив­ный стадион им. 40-летия Победы, лодочная станция на  прудах.
Семи уроженцам Ивнянского района за подвиги в годы Великой Отечественной войны присвоено звание Героя Советского Союза. В 1930-е гг. в Ивне жили и работали советские писатели А. П. Гайдар, Л. Ф. Вор он нова, Ф. И. Панферов, В. П. Ильенков.
Издается районная газета «Родина» — орган Ивнян­ского райкома КПСС и районного Совета народных де­путатов. Объем — 1 печ. л., тираж (в 1988 г.) — 6 тыс. экз. Первый номер ивнянской газеты вышел 27 декаб­ря 1931 г., тогда она называлась «Ленинский путь», с июня 1933 г. по январь 1953 г. — «Большевистское зна­мя», а с января 1953 г. — «Коммунистическое знамя», Название «Родина» газета получила в 1960 г.
