Свердлов Яков Михайлович

Свердлов Яков Михайлович (1885-1919 гг.) — дея­тель Коммунистической партии и Советского прави­тельства. Член Коммунистической партии с 1901 г.
В марте 1919 г. во время поездки из Москвы в Харь­ков председатель ВЦИК секретарь ЦК РКП (б) Сверд­лов сделал короткую остановку в Белгороде для встречи с партийными и советскими работниками города и уез­да. В Харькове Я. М. Свердлов принял участие в рабо­те III съезда КПб)  Украины, а затем III Всеукраинского съезда Советов. Выехав 6 марта из Харькова, он телеграфировал:    «Белгород.    Комитету    коммунистов. Выезжаю    из    Харькова    6    марта   в    21    час,    буду в Белгороде в 23 часа. Прошу прийти в мой поезд сов­местно с президиумом исполкома. Пред. ВЦИК Сверд­лов». На вокзале его встречали партийные и советские ру­ководители, рабочие города, ходоки из окрестных сел. Несмотря на болезнь, Свердлов вышел на перрон, бесе­довал с белгородцами, отвечал на их вопросы. Затем в вагоне было проведено совещание с работниками уезд­ного комитета партии и ревкома.
В честь памятных событий 1919 г. на здании вокзала железнодорожной станции Белгород установлена мемо­риальная доска из красного гранита с барельефом Сверд­лова. Имя соратника В. И. Ленина присвоено одному из двух районов г. Белгорода.
