Никитенко Александр Васильевич

Никитенко Александр Васильевич — русский лите­ратурный критик, академик Петербургской академии наук. Родился 12 (24) марта 1804 г. в семье крепостных в с. Удеревка Бирюченского уезда Воронежской губер­нии (теперь села Ближнее Чесночное и Мухо-Удеровка Алексеевского р-на). Детство Никитенко прошло в Алексеевке и довольно подробно описано им в кни­ге «Моя повесть о самом себе и о том, чему свидетель в жизни был». Начальное образование получил под ру­ководством отца, писаря волостного правления, а в 1816 г. окончил с отличием Воронежское уездное учи­лище.
В Острогожске, куда переехала семья Никитенко, близкое участие в его судьбе принял К. Ф. Рылеев. Ни­китенко, по собственному его признанию, «испытал на себе чарующее действие его гуманности и доброты». Вскоре Никитенко смог выехать в Петербург, где по ре­комендации Рылеева жил на квартире декабриста Е. П. Оболенского в качестве учителя его младшего бра­та. С помощью К. Ф. Рылеева и его друзей в 1824 г. получил «вольную» и поступил на философско-юридический факультет Петербургского университета. В 1828 г. после окончания университета читает курс политической экономии в университете и преподает русскую словес­ность в Екатерининском и Смольном институтах. В 1837 г. защитил диссертацию «О творящей силе в поэзии, или О поэтическом гении» на ученую степень доктора фило­софии. С 1853 г. — член-корреспондент Академии наук, с 1855-го — академик.
Работая много лет в ведомствах и учреждениях по надзору за печатью, Никитенко был цензором произве­дений А. С. Пушкина, Н. В. Гоголя, М. Ю. Лермонтова, И. С. Тургенева, Л. Н. Толстого. В 1847—1848 гг. (по приглашению Н. А. Некрасова и И. И. Панаева)—офи­циальный редактор журнала «Современник».
Для Никитенко было характерно либерально-прими­ренческое отношение к действительности. Автор книг «Опыт истории русской литературы» (1845), «Мысли о реализме в литературе» (1872), «Дневник» (1882— 1892 гг.). На «Дневник» Никитенко, как на авторитет­ный источник, ссылается В. И. Ленин в статье «Гоните­ли земства и Аннибалы либерализма» (Поли, собр соч., т. 5. М., 1959, с. 38).
Умер А. В. Никитенко в Павловске 21 июля (2 ав­густа) 1877 г.
