Белгородский железнодорожный узел

Белгородский железнодорожный узел, локомотивное депо. Белгородский железнодорожный узел расположен на важнейших магистралях страны: Москва—Донбасс, Москва—Крым, Москва—Кавказ. Отсюда уходят пасса­жирские и грузовые составы в сторону Сум, Воронежа.
Сооружение железной дороги из Курска через Бел­город на Харьков, Славянск, к Ростову началось весной 1868 г. 6 июля 1869 г. между Курском и Харьковом от­крылось регулярное движение пассажирских и товарных поездов. В Белгороде к тому времени было закончено строительство депо на 6 паровозов, возведены пассажир­ская и две товарные платформы. В 1896 г. Белгород был соединен железнодорожной линией с Волчанском.
С возникновением железнодорожного узла связано зарождение в городе промышленного пролетариата. Ра­бочие-железнодорожники, возглавляемые большевиками, в революциях 1905—1907 и 1917 гг. явились самой орга­низованной и активной силой, вели за собой трудящихся уезда на свержение царизма, на защиту завоеваний Ве­ликого Октября и на социалистическое переустройство жизни. Здесь, в депо, в мае 1919 г. прошел первый в Белгороде коммунистический субботник.
В годы Советской власти депо было полностью ре­конструировано, построены новые цехи. В дни Великой Отечественной войны многие рабочие железнодорожного узла сражались на фронте. В июне 1942 г. по решению Государственного комитета обороны была создана па­ровозная колонна № 10 особого резерва Наркомата пу­тей сообщения, в ее составе — 524 белгородских желез­нодорожника. Выполняя приказы военного командова­ния, они помогали создавать стратегические резервы, доставляли к фронту технику и вооружение. Вместе с армией колонна прошла от Москвы до Берлина, участ­вовала в боях за Сталинград, Орел, Ростов, Курск, Бел­город, Харьков, Киев, принимала участие в освобожде­нии Польши. Уже на пятый день после освобождения Белгорода железнодорожная станция смогла принять первый поезд. В октябре 1943 г. была восстановлена первая очередь паровозного депо.
В послевоенные годы коллектив депо стал зачинате­лем движения «пятисотников» на Южной дороге. За до­стигнутые трудовые успехи и в связи со 100-летием со дня основания локомотивное депо Белгород 9 июля 1969 г. было награждено Почетной грамотой Президиу­ма Верховного Совета РСФСР. Сегодня железнодорож­ный узел и локомотивное депо — крупное предприятие областного центра, школа воспитания квалифицирован­ных кадров железнодорожников.
