Ольшанский участок

Ольшанский участок Белгородской черты проходил, как и Усердский, по р. Тихой Сосне. Стык Усердской и Ольшан­ской военных зон находился в большом Иловском лесу, при­мерно у современного с. Колтуновкй Алексеевского района Белгородской области. В пределах Ольшанской военной зо­ны засека в лесу была устроена на двух верстах. Она выхо­дила к восточной опушке Иловского леса, откуда начинался земляной вал. По обыкновению в лес заведены были надолбы, которые вплотную примыкали к валу. Размеры земляно­го вала были таковы: высота — полторы сажени, ширина вни­зу— три сажени, ширина вверху — полсажени Среди вала построено было 5 деревянных башен. Общая длина земля­ного вала составляла примерно 4 км От конца вала к г. Ольшанска шла острожная стена длиной в 171 сажень, вы­сотой в 2 сажени.
Кроме засеки и земляного вала с башнями, к западу от Ольшанска в Ольшанской военной зоне находилась еще одна крепость. У старого татарского Чесночного брода примерно в 6—7 км выше г. Ольшанска был построен стоялый острог. Он располагался на правом, южном берегу Тихой Сосны, «за валом». Укрепление было окружено дубовой стеной и имело квадратную форму — 5x5 саженей. Острожек был хорошо виден с городских стен и башен Ольшанска. В донесении воеводы Р. Неплюева о строительстве острожка (1648 г.) острожек назван «Орловым», он назывался также «Чесноч­ным» по имени брода. Сейчас у бывшего Чесночного бродя проходит граница Белгородской и Воронежской областей
Ольшанск был построен осенью 1644 г. на старом городи­ще, вблизи устья речки Ольшанки, которая теперь называет­ся Камышенкой. Крепость имела четырехугольную форму и располагалась на высоком, обрывистом берегу Тихой Сосны. Превратившийся давно уже в село старый город называется теперь Верхне-Ольшан, а выселки из него за рекой — Нижне-Олылан. В крепости было построено сначала 7 башен, но по описаниям 70-х годов XVII в. видно, что Тайницкая баш­ня в то время уже не существовала,— оставалось 6 башен. Четыре башни располагались на углах крепости, две другие (проезжие) — в середине юго-западной и северо-восточной стен. Расположение башен хорошо видно на плане Ольшан­ской крепости первой половины XVIII в., сохранившемся в ЦГВИА и воспроизведенном нами в одной из статей.
Длина стен крепости равнялась 147 саженям. Форма ста­рого городища предопределила сравнительно небольшие раз­меры Ольшанской крепости XVII в. Были защищены, как обычно, и пригородные слободы. К речке Ольшанке подхо­дил плетень, засыпанный землею, рядом с ним стояли на­долбы. В 1677 г. в Ольшанске насчитывалось 230 детей бо­ярских городовой службы, 92 стрельца, 75 казаков, 32 ста­ничника, 11 пушкарей, 30 служилых черкас. Гарнизон рас­полагал 8 пушками.
К северо-востоку от г. Ольшанска у впадения в Тихую Сосну речки Ольшанки (Камышенки) и далее на 2 версты «до Плавного перелазу» вдоль Тихой Сосны рос лес. Здесь летом «проезду и проходу не бывает»,— сообщал П. Зи­новьев. «Плавный перелаз»-—новое название бывшего Визова брода. Места бродов на Тихой Сосне не сохранялись неизменными в течение десятилетий. Кое-где река углубляла свое русло, кое-где мелела. Это явление подметил в 1901 г. Е. Л. Марков. Он с удивлением пишет, что там, где были раньше описанные в источниках Каменный и Осиновый бро­ды, никаких бродов нет. Зато появились броды в других, местах.
У Плавного (Вязова) перелаза вдоль реки стояли надол­бы «Надолбы старого дела» тянулись на 498 саженях. П. Зи­новьев пишет, что перед ними были поставлены в 1669 г. но­вые надолбы на 105 саженях. Далее вниз по реке вновь на­чинались «лес и топи», которые продолжались сначала до Осинового брода, а затем — до «Острогожского рубежа» У Осинового брода находился острожек. В отличие от Чесноч­ного острога, Осиновый стоялый острог располагался на ле­ном, северном берегу Тихой Сосны. Дубовой стеной была ого­рожена площадь размером 6X5 саженей. Высота острожной стены составляла примерно 3,7 м. Башни в Осиновом остроге не было, но у стен были устроены помосты — «кровати кара­ульные». За острогом вниз по обоим берегам Тихой Сосны тянулись «топи и ивняк». Память о существовавших в XVII в. Осиновом броде и Осиновом остроге осталась в названиях современных сел: Осиновки и Ново-Осиновки.
По протяженности Ольшанский участок Белгородской черты был значительно короче Усердского. Длина Ольшан­ского участка составляла около 20 км. К юго-западу от Ольшанска вверх по Тихой Сосне Ольшанская военная зон» тянулась примерно на 12 км (4 км — густой лес, 4 км — лес­ная засека в более редком лесу, 4 км — земляной вал). Вниз но Тихой Сосне Ольшанская зона занимала около 8 км. В Ольшанской военной зоне находились 2 стоялых острога и 5 башен на земляном валу. На небольшом Ольшанском уча­стке мы находим все основные типы укреплений Белгород­ской черты: земляной вал, усиленный в отдельных местах тарасами, караульные городки (стоялые остроги), деревян­ные башни, лесною засеку, ряды надолб, а также естествен­ные препятствия для татар: лес, болота вдоль реки, не до­полненные никакими искусственными инженерными соору­жениями.
