Гражданская война на Белгородчине

Гражданская война на Белгородчине. Одна из пер­вых крупных вооруженных схваток с контрреволюцией, как отмечалось 29 ноября 1917 г. в сообщении Советско­го правительства «Ко всем трудящимся и эксплуатиру­емым», произошла под Белгородом. В конце ноя­бря — начале декабря 1917 г. сводный отряд революци­онных матросов, солдат и красногвардейцев во главе с И. П. Павлу невским, А. Ф. Ильиным-Же­невским, А. Г. Железняковым и А. В. Мокроусовым в двухнедельных ожесточенных боях раз­громил корниловские батальоны, пытавшиеся прорвать­ся на Дон, чтобы соединиться с крупными силами контр­революции.
Весной 1918 г. на белгородской земле развернулись бои против войск немецких империалистов, которые, не­смотря на Брестский мир, стремились продвинуться в глубь страны. Вместе с австро-германскими оккупантами наступали отряды украинской Центральной Рады под командованием Петлюры. Для отпора врагу партийные комитеты, Советы и ревкомы спешно создавали Белго­родский и Грайворонский отряды Красной гвардии, пар­тизанские отряды в Сабынинской, Шебекинской и дру­гих волостях. Оккупации подверглись Белгородский, Грайворонский и частично Корочанский, Валуйский и Алексеевский уезды, Белгород, Валуйки, Грайворон. 8 мая 1918 г. в Белгороде советская и герман­ская делегации подписали соглашение о заключении перемирия и установлении демаркационной линии, прошедшей через с. Покровку Обоянского уезда, с. Алексеевку Корочанского уезда, ел. Большетроицкую и далее на Валуйки. После буржуазно-демократической револю­ции в Германии ВЦИК в начале ноября 1918 г. анну­лировал грабительский Брестский договор. Части Крас­ной Армии и местные отряды повстанцев начали очи­щать от немцев и гайдамаков советскую территорию. С отвагой и мужеством сражались в те дни бойцы 6-го Корочанского повстанческого полка под командованием М. Е. Трунова, Валуйской повстанческой армии (командир А. Ф. Авилов). 20 декабря 1918 г. 2-я Украинская дивизия, отряды повстанцев и рабочих ос­вободили Белгород.
Летом 1919 г. в нашем крае с новой силой заполы­хало пламя гражданской войны. 23 июня деникинцы захватили Белгород. Они рвались к Москве. В. И. Ле­нин охарактеризовал этот период как самый критиче­ский момент социалистической революции. ЦК РКП (б) обратился ко всем коммунистам и трудящимся массам с письмом «Все на борьбу с Деникиным!», написанным ленинской рукой. В те дни из Грайворона на подкреп­ление частям Красной Армии к станции Готня отпра­вился созданный по решению ревкома батальон добро­вольцев. 27 июля на базе батальона был сформирован 1-й Грайворонский революционный полк. Более сорока дней оборонял он Грайворон от деникинцев. Вынужденный отступить от Орла, полк затем вместе с красными частями освобождал Орел, Курск, Новый Оскол, Валуйки, Донбасс, Крым и Кавказ. Его командир наш земляк А. Н. Борисенко был дважды удосто­ен высшей награды республики — ордена Красного Зна­мени.
Особенно отличились при изгнании деникинцев с белгородской земли Первая Конная армия и 42-я стрелковая дивизия, которой командовал прослав­ленный герой гражданской войны Г. Д. Гай. К ян­варю 1920 г. вся территория Белгородчины была осво­бождена от белогвардейцев.
