Станюкович Константин Михайлович

Станюкович Константин Михайлович (1843 — 1903 гг.) — писатель. Автор рассказов из морского бы­та (1886—1903 гг.), повести «Вокруг света на «Коршуне» (1895 г.), романов из русской пореформенной жизни.
Весной 1869 г. Станюкович — ради заработка — по­ступил на службу в управление Курско-Харьковско-Азовской железной дороги и поселился в Курске. Вско­ре был назначен правителем дел 1-го отделения службы ремонта путей и зданий, а еще черед год — помощником ревизора службы движения. По долгу службы приходи­лось много ездить, и ему был знаком каждый полуста­нок от Курска до Белгорода. Несколько раз он задер­живался по делам в Белгороде. На станциях, на строи­тельстве, в бараках и землянках, где жили железнодо­рожные рабочие, в вагонах поезда он расспрашивал людей об их жизни, внимательно слушал их рассказы. В ноябре 1870 г. в петербургском журнале «Искра» поя­вился фельетон в трех частях «Русские американцы (Мои беседы в вагонах и на станциях железных дорог)». «Русскими американцами» автор окрестил темных дель­цов — тех, что хищно наживались на грабеже рабочих и государства. Разоблачению «темного царства» эксплу­ататоров железнодорожных воротил, концессионеров, подрядчиков, чиновников посвящены и сатирическая ко­медия «На то и щука в море, чтобы карась не дремал», написанная в Курске, и роман «Без исхода». В начале 1871 г. К. М. Станюкович оставил железнодорожную службу и покинул наш край.
