Островский Александр Николаевич

Островский Александр Николаевич (1823—1886гг.) — русский драматург. В конце мая 1860 г., направляясь с, известным русским актером Александром Евстафьевичем Мартыновым к Черному морю, на день останавливал­ся в Белгороде. В письме с дороги А. Н. Остров­ский сообщал друзьям в Москву: «...От Воронежа до Харькова дорога идет... живописнейшими местами. Де­ревни и села расположены или в лощинах, или по скло­нам высоких гор и, в полном смысле, тонут в густых са­дах, хоть и самые бедные, хатки тщательно выбелены. Города тоже живописны (Нижнедевицк, Старый Оскол, Белгород). Живописнее всех стоит город Короча: по крутому спуску он сбегает в глубокую лощину, сплошь покрытую садами, со всех сторон его окружают высо­кие меловые горы. Женщины отличаются красотой н самым живописным костюмом, начиная от Воролежа и до Белгорода».
