Мальцев Орест Михайлович

Мальцев Орест Михайлович — писатель, лауреат Государственной премии СССР (1952 г.). Родился 23 февраля 1906 г. в с. Скородное Губкинского района. В 1920 г. ушел добровольцем в Красную Армию. После окончания в Москве школы комсостава РККА командо­вал взводом конной разведки стрелкового полка в Во­сточной Бухаре, участвовал в борьбе с басмачеством. Впечатления тех лет послужили основой для первого романа Мальцева «Горы тронулись» (М., «Молодая гвардия», 1929; новая редакция вышла под названием «Гиссарский хребет» в 1962 г.).
В  1930-е гг. работал специальным  корреспондентом газеты «Красная звезда».  Во время  Великой Отечест венной войны служил в дивизионной газете. В  1941  г. в журнале «Новый мир» опубликовал очерки о первыч боях на границе — «Герои одной стрелковой дивизии-После войны появились «Венгерские рассказы»     и ро­ман «Поход за Дунай». В 1946 г. в Курске вышла книга «Курские очерки»   (ряд очерков написан в соавторстве с Юрием Нагибиным).
Живя в Москве, Мальцев часто приезжал в родные места, бывал в колхозах области. Наблюдения за жизнью современного села легли в основу двух повестей: «.Ве­сенняя свежесть» (Белгород, 1961) и «Неведомый коло­дезь» (М., 1971).
Умер 26 мая 1972 г. в Москве.
