Эрденко Михаил Гаврилович

Эрденко Михаил Гаврилович — скрипач и педагог, заслуженный деятель искусств РСФСР (1935 г.). Родил­ся 22 ноября 1886 г. в Старом Осколе в семье бедного музыканта-дирижера.
Одаренность будущего скрипача-виртуоза обнару­жилась чрезвычайно рано. С трех лет Эрденко играл на маленькой скрипке по слуху. К пяти годам знал на па­мять до сорока пьес. Отец решил показать сына видным музыкальным деятелям в Харькове. Средства на поезд­ку собрали по подписке среди интеллигенции Старого Оскола. Директор Харьковского музыкального училища И. И. Слатин дал отзыв-рекомендацию, и Миша с от­цом отправился в первую концертную поездку. В Харь­кове, Ростове-на-Дону, Екатеринославе, Полтаве и Мо­скве концерты пятилетнего скрипача прошли с полным успехом.
В 1892 г. Эрденко определили в семью скрипача Ф. Лауба, а в Московской консерватории была выделе­на специальная стипендия на- имя юного музыканта. В 1904 г. Эрденко окончил Московскую консерваторию с золотой медалью.
В 1905 г. принял участие в революционных собы­тиях (в частности, в похоронах убитого черносотенцами Н. Э. Баумана), был выслан из Москвы.
Начиная с 1906 г. Эрденко совершил многочислен­ные концертные поездки по стране (бывал в Белго­роде, Курске, Харькове), выезжал на гастроли в стра­ны Западной Европы, в Японию и Китай. В 1910— 1919 гг. преподавал в Киеве (с апреля 1917 г. — профес­сор Киевской консерватории), в 1935—1940 гг. — про­фессор по классу скрипки Московской консерватории.
«Какая нежность, грация, сила, какое чувство ме­ры!.. Я никогда не слышал, чтобы кто-нибудь так играл», — это отзыв Л. Н. Толстого. Впервые Эрденко с женой-пианисткой побывал в Ясной Поляне осенью 1909 г. Второй раз супруги Эрденко виделись с Толстым, говорили с ним, играли ему в Мещерском, у В. Г. Черт­кова, летом 1910 г.
Эрденко много занимался просветительской деятель­ностью, пропагандой музыки. Автор сонаты в старин­ном стиле, каденций к концертам Брамса, Паганини и других композиторов.
Умер 21 января 1940 г. в Москве.
В Старом Осколе имя Эрденко присвоено школе искусств, в краеведческом музее города есть экспозиция о замечательном земляке.
